A spot check at Suva Wharf of a vessel returning from the islands resulted in the arrest of four people.
They were found with drugs. Police also discovered additional stash abandoned in the vessel.
“We managed to intercept a supply of drugs that were coming in from the island and this is
probably the supply for Christmas and New Year,” Fiji Police Force Assistant Commissioner Police Operations, Livai Driu said.
He said similar surprise checks would be carried out throughout the festive season including roadside areas, to detect drugs and other illegal items.
