Vaccination picks up again

Vaccination picked up again Monday, for the first time in seven days, with more than 8000 people getting their first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID19 vaccine and more than 2000 received their second when vaccination resumed Monday.

Of the 8,309 people who received their firs dose, around 37% were from the Suva-Nausori zone where there has been widespread infection and deaths.

In terms of vaccination Divisional wise, 3519 were administered their first injection and 527, their second dose in the Central Division on Monday. In the West, 3211 first dose and 1,441 second dose, in the North 1352 and 268 respectively and in the Eastern Divisiomn, 202 first jab and 34 second jab all on Lomaiviti.

As of end of Monday 19 July, 68.4% of Fiji’s target population had been given their first jab and 13.8% their second.

Meanwhile, Ba which was the first subdivision that achieved 100% coverage for first dose vaccination had 483 more people Monday turn out for their first dose. Ba has achieved 102% coverage, having surpassed its target population by 553. Rewa/Nausori boasts the second highest first dose coverage numbers at 89.5%. In terms of second dose coverage, Nadi has the highest at 28.8%.
