Two events that were earmarked to be included in the 2021 Coca Cola Games but did not eventuate because COVID-19 cancelled the competition have been put back on the events listing for the 2022 edition scheduled for 3-5 August at the ANZ Stadium.
Fiji Secondary Schools Athletics Association General Secretary Vuli Waqa said the inclusion of the two events is among changes tournament organisers would be implementing this year.
The events to be included are the Sub-Junior 1500m race in both the boys and girls categories.
Coca Cola marketing manager Lawrence Tikaram said with the dates confirmed, it would give participating schools and competition organisers including zone delegates a clearer pathway and time to organise themselves.
“We are encouraging students to use this opportunity to come out and celebrate life,” Tikaram said.
“This is our games, this is our event, this is our olympics for many of the students. In fact this is our national event and it is something that we all have to be proud of.”
