Ten Schools in Central Division To Pilot Fijian Elections School Election Toolkits Initiative

February 2, 2024

The Fijian Elections Office (FEO) this week launched its School Election Toolkits (SET) initiative.

Comprising a guide, customised resources, and election materials, the initiative aims to encourage democracy and civic engagement among students, recognising the role schools play in shaping Fiji’s future voters’ perspectives.

It will be piloted out in 10 schools from the Central Division this year including Suva Grammar School, Rishkul Sanatan College, Suva Muslim College, Marist Brother High Schools, Jeremaiah College, Adi Cakobau School, Vunimono High School, Dilkusha High School, Noco Secondary School and Bau Central College.

Launching the toolkit Acting Supervisor of Elections Ana Mataiciwa said the project is the realisation of a component of their 2024 to 2027 Strategic Plan launched last year with a major goal to “foster greater stakeholder engagement and collaboration to increase voter participation.”
