Teens taken in over bus stoning incident released

Two teenagers who were taken in for questioning, in relation to a stoning incident on Saturday night in which a student of Suva Grammar School was injured, have been released.

In a statement, Fiji Police Chief Operations Officer ACP Abdul Khan said the case was still being investigated.

The two, aged 15 and 17 years, were taken to Lami Police Station after information was received of their involvement in the incident that happened at Kalokolevu on Saturday night in which a bus carrying students, parents, and guardians of SGS was returning from the 2022 Deans semifinals in Nadi was stoned.

Mr Khan said Police had received information of the alleged incident at Kalokolevu whereby a fire call was conducted and officers residing at the Lami Police Barracks were deployed to the scene.

The youths were taken to the Lami Police Station for questioning.

Meanwhile, it is also understood that a bus carrying supporters including current scholars of Marist Brothers High School was stoned as well on the same evening.
