Suva Warriors ready to defend Easter Cricket Championship title

Cricket Fiji’s biggest tournament kicked off today at Albert Park with the defending champions prepared to defend their title in this year’s Easter competition.

Suva warriors comprise of Police cricket players who have been consistent in this year’s local competitions.

Suva Warriors team manager Viliame Soko said that the boys are in good form and being the champions of Suva Cricket club was optimistic about their chances of retaining the title.

“This is a huge tournament and the team are prepared for it. The inclusion of other players will help boost the spirit of the team and we are looking forward to this competition,” Soko said.

The tournament is set for two weeks with eight teams from the Lau group, two teams from Nadi and three teams in Suva.

Cricket Fiji manager Sitiveni Rokoro said, the competition is going to be tough as most teams have prepared for this tournament.

“Suva warriors coming in as a favourite but other teams like Moce who is the current holder of the Association cup and teams like Moce, Komo, Nadi, Ono and Suva Crusaders are other teams to watch out.”

The final of this competition will be played on 9 April.
