Suva scored seven tries in their 43-12 win over Naitasiri at Suva Grammar School grounds in Suva today in one of the round 12 matches of the ANZ Marama Championship.
Experienced Suva and 7s campaigner winger Adi Vika Naibeni and centre Camari Seru scored two tries each in the win as Suva take the win to cement their place atop the ANZ Marama Championship standings.
With their two tries from centre Iliana and La Kapaiwai who started off the bench in the second half, Naitasiri remain at the bottom of the standings, and is at risk of being relegated to the Ranadi competition, in a showing that is far from their runners-up finish in the 2020 Skipper Cup competition.
Naitasiri needed to win this match-up as well as their remaining two matches to avoid relegation. They remain at the tailend of the standings in eighth, whilst defending champions Lautoka are in seventh and also at risk of relegation.
The bottom two from the ANZ Marama will be relegated to the Ranadi competition, making way for the top two from Ranadi.
As it stands, gunning for the two available slots into the new season of the ANZ Marama competition are Rewa, Vatukoula, Navosa and Nasinu. The four have qualified for the semi-finals of the Ranadi competition after winning their quarterfinal matches that were held at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka yesterday.
Rewa accounted for Northland 34-12, Vatukoula edged Malolo 29-27, Navosa defeated Nanukuloa 27-17 and Nasinu beat Macuata 45-32.
