Support for Fijian Drua Hailed the Best

Home support for Fijian Drua is a huge winning factor for Pacific rugby.

And Moana Pasifika Coach Tana Umaga and Sione Havili-Talitui said they have been in awe at the support that the Fijian Drua have been receiving at home games.

“We have been seeing the way the people of Fiji rally behind the Fijian Drua and it just warms the heart. We don’t have a place to call home as yet like the Fijian Drua and we struggle to draw a crowd when we play but we are grateful to the faithful supporters who have stood by us.

“It is no wonder that the Fijian Drua are winning and growing. You just have to look at the support they’re getting.”

Umaga said it was encouraging to see rugby in the Pacific grow the way it is.

“Today was more than just rugby. It was a meeting of 3 brothers in Tonga, Samoa and Fiji. If anything the game today was a meeting of 3 very close Pacific brothers. It is really good to see how the Fijian Drua is moving in terms development.”

The former All Black and Hurricanes centre said his side was looking forward to playing for the first time at Teufaiva Stadium in Tonga next weekend against Highlanders.

“This is historic and it would be so good to get the type of crowd that we’ve seen supporting the Drua in Fiji in Tonga too. We are really looking forward to taking the game there.”
