Suncorp Super Netball players fly in for Fiji Pearls exhibition match

A handful of players from Australia’s premier netball league Suncorp Super are in Fiji this week for a host of activities including school and community clinics as well as an exhibition match with the Fiji Pearls.

During the week-long tour, the players from the Adelaide Thunderbirds and Sunshine Coast Lightning will be holding a series of netball clinics, school
visitations, netball workshops for umpires, athletes, and umpire coach mentors, culminating with the exhibition match with the Fiji Pearls on Saturday afternoon.

The Fast5 exhibition match will feature the Lightning and Thunderbirds players who will each be joined by five Fijian Pearls members to make up their squads.

Sunshine Coast Lightning midcourter Annie Miller and Adelaide Thunderbirds’ Georgie Horjus are expected to be part of the traveling squad to Fiji.

The exhibition match will follow the match-up between the Fiji Mens’ Selection at 1:30 pm.

‘We are privileged to have such an opportunity not only for fun-filled activities for netball enthusiasts but also the high-performance workshops
for our athletes and umpires,” Netball Fiji CEO Vivian Koster said.

“The high-performance workshops will be an opportunity for our athletes to learn from and share with counterparts in the Australian Super League.’

The SSN Tour is a fully funded program by the Australia Department of Foreign Affairs in partnership with Netball Australia.
