Six new COVID-19 cases and three deaths of positive patients

Fiji’s running total for coronavirus cases recorded in the second wave has increased to 52,404, and deaths with COVID-19 numbers gone up to 601, after six new cases were recorded and three more COVID-19 positive people died since the last update.

There were no deaths from COVID-19 recorded, and as such numbers remained at 695 as of 8am yesterday.

Deaths with COVID-19 numbers show the number of COVID-19 positive people but whose deaths have been attributed to pre-existing illnesses. These are not classified as COVID-19 deaths or deaths from COVID-19.

The six new cases of coronavirus cases were recorded in the 24 hours ending at 8am yesterday, bringing total active cases to 279 after having accounted for 16 recoveries.

Overall, the Ministry of Health says indicators are positive with the weekly cases rate graph and the death rate graphs, for the Central and Western Divisions, indicate a declining trend.
