Ratu Kadavulevu School set an impressive standard for education in Fiji when it opened its doors 100 years ago in 1924.
And Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka said RKS continues to pave the way forward in terms of academic excellence amongst other exemplery efforts at the school.
Opening the Delainakaikai school’s centennial celebration in Suva yesterday, Rabuka said RKS has a legacy that current and future students should strive to maintain and enhance in years to come.
“RKS’s commitment to fostering academic excellence has resulted in a legacy of professionals who have contributed to the nation’s growth and development.”
“Ratu Kadavulevu School has made significant contributions to Fiji by producing graduates who have excelled in various professions, including academics, engineering, medicine, law, agriculture and other speciliased fields.”
Rabuka said many old scholars of the school contributed to the nation building in Fiji.
“Distinguished RKS alumni include many graduates who played key roles in the transition from colonial government to independence. Several of them assumed leadership positions in the government agencies of the newly independent state under our first Prime Minister, the late Turaga Bale na Tui Nayau, Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara, as well as successive governments, including the SVT Coalition, and SDL Coalition.”
“This proud legacy continues today.”
The celebration program is a week long and this evening an Investment and Trades symposium will take place at the Suva Civic Centre this afternoon from 5pm and will include speakers like Minister for Itaukei Affairs Ifereimi Vasu, FNU Vice Chancellor Professor Unaisi Baba, Suva lawyer Tanya Waqanika and Fiji Council of Social Services Executive Director Vani Catanasiga and Jaoji Koroi, the Chief Executive Officer of Fijian Holdings.
