RKS and Tailevu North College Win in Tailevu Zone

Ratu Kadavulevu School has won the Tailevu School Athletics Zone boys title attaining 24 gold medals beating the boys from Queen Victoria School who managed to bag 19 gold medals.

Tailevu North College came third taking 4 medals, 7 silver and 10 bronze.

In the girls division, Tailevu North College managed 22 gold medals, St Vincent College with 11 and Dawasamu Secondary School with 7.

RKS Vice Principal Sailosi Koroibola said the team’s dominance was due to the hard work and sacrifice that they had committed to as a squad.

“They fast every Wednesday, they are committed to their training schedules, they listen to their leader and they have been of one heart and mind and that was to give their absolute best and win the zone this year.”

Koroibola said winning the zone was an addition to the anniversary celebrations happening for the all-boys school this year.

“Winning this is an addition for us, we are celebrating the school’s 100th anniversary and what better way to do so than with a win like this.”

Koroibola added that the team will return to Delanakaikai and prepare for the Fiji Finals in May.

“We call our school the city of men, we mean business and we want to come out and give the Fiji Finals our best shot.”

Winning the overall best athlete for the boys was Senirusi Rauqe of QVS with 3 gold medals in the senior boys 100 metres, 200 metres and 4×100 metres events and the girls award went Lita Navitikula of Dawasamu Secondary School 3 gold medals in the senior girls 400 metres, 800 metres and 4×400 metres events.
