Rain to ease: Weather Office

Rain will begin to ease from later today, dotted with showers in the eastern and interior parts of the two large islands, Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, and gradually clears into the weekend.

The country has been lashed by rain the last five days, causing flash flooding of low-lying areas, but Fiji Meteorology duty forecaster Vinal Prakash says heavy rain should ease to showers from this afternoon and clear by tomorrow based on current weather system.

According to the weather office, the prolonged spell of rain experienced around the country in recent days is common this time of the year as the country transitions from wet to dry or cooler season – November to April and May to October respectively.
