The heavy rain experienced in most parts of Fiji last night and into this morning should subside later today as the trough of low pressure which lay over the Northern and Eastern parts of the group moves away from Fiji.
The Weather bulletin issued this morning by the Fiji Meteorological Department said a few thunderstorms and periods of rain will continue to be experienced as the weather system phases out.
“An active trough of low pressure lies over the northern and eastern parts of the group. Associated cloud and rain is expected to affect parts of the country till later today. Meanwhile, an east to southerly wind flow prevails over the Fiji group”
Some parts of Fiji experienced flooding as rivers swelled due to the heavy falls.
The Fiji Roads Authority has advised the public of the closure of several crossings around the country including Nakorovou, Waidradra, Colata Cocoa Road crossing and Vatulili road.
