Photos on social media claiming that we were not manhandled do not tell the full story, says Professor Pal Ahluwalia.
Six photos posted via sponsored page, University of the South Pacific Alumni Club, showed Professor Pal and his wife Sandra Price; four of which taken at their Suva home on the night of their detention on Wednesday 3 February and two, at the airport on the morning of Thursday 4 February.
The accompanying post claimed that Professor Pal lied about being treated badly, statements that Professor Pal described “a desperate attempt to justify a barbaric act.”
In a tweet this morning, Professor Pal stated that was not surprised over the photos and the claims that were treated well.
Professor Pal and Price were taken from their homes on Wednesday evening, put on a flight to Brisbane the next day. On Friday 5 February, USP Council appointed Dr Giulio Masasso Tu’ikolongahau Paunga to the role of the Vice-Chancellor.
