Portugal will replace the Fijiana in the Seville 7s this weekend, while the men’s competition will feature the same 15 teams minus Fiji and Samoa.
The Fijian 7s teams picked up a point each despite a no-show in the recent Malaga tournament, and will likely be dealt the same this weekend in Seville.
The men’s are eighth on the standings with 24 points, while the Fijiana are fifth with 37 points.
The Fijian 7s teams withdrew from both the Malaga and Seville tournaments after some players and management tested positive for coronavirus.
The South Africans extended their lead atop the men’s standings thanks to a try by Selvyn Davids after the buzzer to pip Argentina 24-17 for the Malaga 7s title, their third consecutive title this season, following their victories in Dubai. South Africa are at the helm with 66 points, followed by Argentina with 53 and Australia in third with 47 points. Australia lead the women’s with 56 points, followed by France and Russia who are tied on 46 points then USA on 40 points.
