Police marijuana raid results in arrest of five individuals

Fiji Police recently arrested five individuals over the discovery of plants and satches of dried leaves believed to be marijuana in four separate incidents, three of which were recorded in the northern division.

The seized substances have been sent for analysis as investigations continue, authorities say.

At Burelevu village, police arrested two men aged 29 and 30 after police seized more than 140 plans ranging from 2cm to 1 meter in height. In the northern division, police arrested three individuals over three separate incidents.

Chief Operations Officer ACP Abdul Khan says a mop-up exercise in the division led to the seizure of plants from a farmhouse at Togatata farm in Nawi, Cakaudrove, and from Kanakana village Tunuloa resulting in the arrest of two individuals including a 20-year-old. At a shop in Vulovi, Labasa, a man was found with 150 satches of dried leaves.
