Police Launch Festive Season Operations, Call for Public Support

November 15, 2024

The Fiji Police Force’s annual festive season operations start today, as they ramp up their presence across the country as part of efforts to ensure public safety during the holiday period.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Livai Driu said that this year’s initiative aims to increase public awareness and remind citizens to prioritise their safety as they engage in festive activities.

“We want to remind everyone to be mindful of their safety when traveling on the road, out shopping, at Picnics by the sea or simply enjoying themselves with their friends, ” ACP Driu said.

The operation will see an increase in police patrols in urban centres, highways, and popular recreational spots. ACP Driu highlighted that while the heightened police presence is intended to enhance public security, individual responsibility remains key.

“We are also here for the maintenance of law and order. We will be assisting our stakeholders in monitoring all movements especially on our Roads.

“Police cannot do this alone and we need your support. Support us in keeping everyone safe whether it’s on our roads, out at sea, out in towns and cities or when you’re at home with your
family.”
