The Stop Cyber Bullying Fiji Police rugby side successfully defended the Escott Shield, FMF Suva Rugby Union’s premier challenge, three years in a row after quashing a gallant and spirited Freshet Navy side 17 – 13 today in Suva.
After leading late into the second half, a disallowed try to Navy right on the death enabled the Police to secure the win for the men from Nasova and Captain James Brown dedicated the win to their families and to every police officer in Fiji on the eve of the Force’s 150th Anniversary celebrations.
“This win is very special for us because we are still celebrating 150 years of the Fiji Police Forces existence and with that we remember all the past and present officers who gave their lives in the service of their country.”
Brown said that after relishing in this win, the next focus will be to prepare for the Sukuna Bowl challenge next month.
“For now we will enjoy the win, because these boys played their hearts out for this win. After some celebrations then we will regroup and then prepare for the Sukuna Bowl.”
“The Navy players make up a good number of the Army team so we know that challenge will be a strong one too. In saying that we will also give our best because we want to retain the trophy.”
The Sukuna Bowl challenge will be held on November 8th at the HFC Bank stadium in Suva.
