Police charge man over Labasa shop break-in during curfew

Police have charged a man in his 20s who is alleged to have stolen over $30,000 in cash when he broke into five shops during curfew in Labasa town last week.

He has been charged with five counts of burglary, five counts of theft and one count of failure to comply with orders.

He was arrested at Naiqaqi village in Savusavu on Sunday and will be produced at the Labasa Magistrate Court tomorrow.

The man is also alleged to have stolen assorted items when he broke into the shops housed at the North-Wind Archade, some of which have been recovered by police.
