Fiji Police have charged a man after the death of a one-year-old following the alleged assault of two siblings in Cunningham.
The deceased’s three-year-old brother also sustained visible injuries. The accused who is in his 30s, who police say is the defacto partner of the victims’ mother, allegedly has a history of abusive behaviour.
Authorities were alerted to the case by medical officials on the night of October 17.
The man is facing one count of murder, one count of assault causing actual bodily harm, and one count of act intended to cause grievous harm.
He is expected to appear before a magistrates court in Suva today.
