Fiji’s Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho has reiterated that all efforts are being directed towards the arrest of those involved in the attacks in Raiwai on Sunday.
Of the nine suspects who police said have been involved in similar incidents in the past, five have been arrested, two of whom have been charged and will be produced at the Suva Magistrates Court today.
The other three continue to be questioned.
“Four yet to be arrested and we have information that one suspect has moved over to the Western Division and a team is pursuing his whereabouts,” Brig-Gen Qiliho said.
When briefed, Fiji’s Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama raised his concerns about the incident and had given specific direction for the arrest of everyone involved to be investigated, charged, and produced in court, was assured by the Commissioner of Police, that all efforts were being directed to rounding up everyone involved, police said in a statement.
Brigadier General Qiliho said officers have been directed to arrest everyone involved, have them charged and produced in court so as to put an end to these incidents.
Minister for Defence, National Security and Policing Inia Seruiratu has also been briefed on the progress of actions taken by Police.
