Physicality key in match against Chiefs: Fijian Drua

Swire Shipping Fijian Drua coach Mick Byrne has stressed the importance of physicality for his players ahead of their match against Super Rugby Pacific table leaders Chiefs on Friday.

Speaking to local media, Byrne stated “we know we have physicality, we just don’t know how to use it.”

Byrne said the Chiefs are a physical team that runs hard through the midfield. However, he believes that the Fijian Drua can match their opponents’ style by increasing their own physicality on the field.

He urged the players to work on their strength and conditioning to ensure they are able to compete at the highest level.

The match is scheduled for a 7.05pm kick-off at the FMG Stadium in Waikato.

The Drua are heading into the game after a 28-43 loss to the Brumbies in Canberra last Friday. Fijian fans expressed frustration with the referee’s decisions, particularly the rulings against two of the Drua’s tries.
