Parents Question $20 Per Term School Levy

Parents of Nasinu Gospel School are questioning the school management’s choice to impose a $20 per term fee for each student, effective from the first term of 2024.

It is understood that parents had brought up this issue with their Head Teacher but were told that the Ministry of Education was aware of this move by the school.

“If you want to know anything about this issue contact the Minstry of Education,” head teacher Sereima Waqalevu told journalists who were gathered with parents at the school premises which she told them to vacate.

At the Suva Grammar School prize giving this week, Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro stated that no school should be asking for levy from students and re-enrolment fees.

This afternoon, disgruntled teachers who have chosen to stand with the parents, were in a meeting with Education Ministry officials in an attempt to resolve the issue.
