Officer’s prompt actions lead to robbery suspects’ arrest

A police officer’s quick actions led to the rounding up of three men who allegedly assaulted and robbed a taxi driver in Lautoka on Sunday.

The officer was at his home after completing his shift when he heard the man screaming for help. He gave chase, apprehended one, which led to the arrest of his accomplices.

The victim had picked the three men from Drasa Avenue. Upon arriving at their destination in Balawa, they allegedly assaulted and robbed him of his phone and assorted items, police said.

“The 30-year-old suspect was taken into custody whereby investigators managed to gather information regarding the alleged involvement of the other two suspects.”

No charges have been laid yet as investigations are still continuing.
