Northland wary of Rewa ahead of Vanua finale

Rewa will be a strong competitor; we respect them and will give them a good game, Northland assistant coach Jo Tukana says ahead of the Vanua Championship finals in Sigatoka tomorrow.

Tukana said his team particularly the younger players have shown vast improvements in their game. They have also spent the week polishing their play.

“The weaknesses identified in our semifinal match was with our scrummaging and set pieces and will need to tighten our defence line out because Rewa have the speed in their team,” Tukana said.

“We have seen progress with the players mental focus in the semifinals with the Ba and the players are looking forward to meeting the Rewa team this weekend.

“We will need to work hard in order to counter and match the Rewa team. In their semifinal match with Nanukuloa, Rewa held the upper hand with scrummaging and managed two penalty tries. We are looking forward to meeting with the Rewa team on Saturday.”

The Vanua Championship final is scheduled for a 3pm kick-off at Lawaqa Park, after the 11am clash between Serua and Macuata women, and the 1pm U19s final between Ba and Northland.
