New workstations for students in the North

Close to 500 students in the North will be working off new workstations when classes resume today, thanks to Fiji’s Ministry of Education and Punjas & Sons Pte Limited.

Via their charitable arm, Punjas Charitable Trust donated more than 200 sets, and the ministry, another 250, that were transported to close to 20 schools in the Northern Division that were affected by Tropical Cyclone Ana.

Punjas & Sons Pte Ltd’s Manager Operations Nandu Naidu said they were thankful to two schools in Auckland, New Zealand who donated the furniture pieces to the Trust who then shipped the items to Suva through Swire Shipping.

“We were sending some donations to Fiji and this time, we thought, why not donate some furniture so we got in touch with these schools,” Naidu said.

Schools in the North had been closed since 29 January 2021 in light of TC Ana.
