External exams get underway nationwide today, starting with the Fiji Year 8 Examination (FY8E) in 712 centers until November 2.
This year, 19,523 students will take the eighth-year exams, with Mathematics as the first paper.
Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro encourages all candidates to do their best.
Year 13 and 12 students will follow, with FY13CE and FY12CE on November 6-17 and November 21-December 1. A total of 8,208 students will sit for Year 13 exams, and 14,696 candidates for Year 12 exams in 170 and 174 centers, respectively.
The English paper is the first for both sets of secondary-level exams. Radrodro reminds students that passing this subject, along with the best three others, is crucial for scholarships and Higher Education Institutes’ entry. Parents and guardians are urged to support their children during the exams.
