National 7s squad ready for Dubai; Kolinisau includes schoolboys in development squad

The Fiji Airways national men’s sevens team is determined to kick off their 2025/2026 HSBC SVNS season with a strong performance at the Dubai leg later this month.

Head coach Osea Kolinisau said the players understand what’s expected of them, and with the addition of new development players, the main squad has intensified their preparations.

“We leave this weekend, so the boys know what is expected. We have to give this opening tournament and the rest of the tournaments our best if we are to continue to set the pace of the sevens game.”

Kolinisau said the inclusion of the four players from the Malolo rugby side that recently won the Skipper Cup against Naitasiri has been a boost for the team.

“These boys have brought in a breath of fresh air; they have speed and skills that will contribute a lot to the whole team and is good for the rest of the squad who will continue to work hard to maintain their place.”

The four Malolo players are Tomasi Tawake, Aminiasi Naituyaga, Esala Nalobo and Isaia Rugu.

The team to go to Dubai will be named on Thursday and will depart on Sunday.
