Naitasiri Rugby Union has secured a two-year sponsorship deal worth $70,000 with Ram Sami Fiji, a first for the union and a timely one as well as the new season starts this weekend with the Skipper Cup competition.
With this sponsorship deal, Managing Director Ram Sami Fiji Rajendra Sami said the company seeks to contribute to the growth of rugby at the community level while also aligning itself with a club that has birthed household rugby names over the years in the likes of former and current Flying Fijians’ Ilaitia Tuisese, Asaeli Naiteqe, Rt Peni Naulivou, Nasoni Roko, Levani Botia, Frank Mawi as well as Fijiana XV’s skippers Bitila Tawake and Sereima Leweniqila.
NRU President Ratu Peceli Rinakama said, “Ram Sami Fiji’s sponsorship comes at a crucial time for our club. It will enable us to enhance our training programs, offer better resources to our players, and strengthen our overall performance. We are grateful for their support and look forward to achieving great success together.”
The funds will be utilised to improve training facilities, upgrade equipment, and provide necessary resources for the players’ development, with a view to helping the union improve on their 2022 form where they finished as runners-up.
As part of the deal, Naitasiri teams will carry the name of Ram Sami, with the premier XVs team now known as the Ram Sami Naitasiri.
The Naitasiri men’s team will kick off their season by traveling to the North for their round one match against Macuata, the runners-up of the 2022 Vanua Cup and newcomers to the competition. The game is scheduled to take place on Saturday at 3 pm at Subrail Park in Labasa.
