Nadi picked up at least five cards, two of them red, on their way to beat Naitasiri 61-7 as Suva extend their lead atop the standings following a 55-7 victory over Yasawa in round two of the ANZ Marama Championship over the weekend.
Jetsetters’ team manager Ana Rabuka said they were delighted with the win, but celebrations were marred by the number of cards they copped, with their props the recipients of the red cards.
Nevertheless, the win which is also their first in the season after their 0-5 defeat to Yasawa in round one, Rabuka says is a welcomed result and a confidence booster early into the season.
The win sees Nadi move to second on the standings with six points, and a better points difference over Tailevu and Namosi at third and fourth respectively. Suva are at the helm after notching another five points following their 9-try 55-7 bonus win over Yasawa. Their picked up five points in the win for a total of 10 points. Reigning champs Lautoka are fifth from a win and a loss in two games – following their 22-10 loss to Tailevu over the weekend and their 30-10 victory over Naitasiri the following week. Yasawa are sixth with four points, whilst winless Nadroga and Naitasiri are placed seventh and eighth respectively.
The ANZ Marama Championship continues this weekend with round three of games, fixtures of which are still to be confirmed.
