The Nadi Junior Rugby Festival got off to a great start this morning at Nadi’s Prince Charles Park.
Backed by World Rugby, Oceania Rugby, and Fiji Rugby, the event features eight local clubs, with Tuvalu and Nauru joining in for the first time this year.
Kicking things off, former 7s captain Jerry Tuwai acknowledged the work of parents and guardians, coaches and the organisers of the festival and said it was an honor to be part of a grassroots development effort.
“I may have played in stadiums around the world but nothing brings me more pride than seeing you all here today.”
Tuwai urged the young rugby enthusiasts to embrace the values instilled in the game saying they could also serve as life pointers.
“Respect, integrity, passion and solidarity. These values are what guide us and I hope you carry them with you throughout this festival and beyond”
“Kids, play with heart. Play with joy. Play knowing that your family and your community support you.”
Ranging from the Under 8 to Under 18 grades, the games will end tomorrow.
