Three people are in police custody for an alleged MPAISA scam involving over $8,000 defrauded from a supermarket.
The manager reported being scammed by someone claiming to be a Vodafone senior manager, who requested a balance transfer for an E-ticketing machine upgrade.
The accused vanished after the transfer. Acting Assistant Commissioner of Crime (ACP) Mesake Waqa said they tracked down and arrested the main suspect, while another couple from Makoi was also detained for their involvement.
Investigators suspect a connection to similar cases in various police stations including Valelevu, Nausori, Tavua, Ba, Lautoka, Nadi Border and Namaka Police Stations.
