MOH activates contingency plan after three test positive for COVID19

June 4, 2021

Fiji’s Ministry of Health said the services of its COVID19 Incident Management Team continue with contingency plans activated, despite three staff members testing positive for coronavirus.

All personnel who were operating from Level 3 at the ministry’s headquarters at Denim House have been stood down.

“The primary contacts have been identified and safely quarantined.  Secondary contacts, including the Permanent Secretary for Health, Dr. James Fong, Dr. Aalisha Sahukhan, and Dr. Jemesa Tudravu, are also taking precautionary measures and working from home,” the ministry said in a statement.

Despite their being home-sidelined, the three doctors who have been Fiji’s face providing daily COVID19 updates since the second wave began on 10 April, will continue their work in this regard.

The ministry said the PS Health will be “issuing daily statements during this period and will provide updates on the COVID situation from the Ministry of Health as and when required.”
