Marist scored 17 unanswered points to win the U18 Deans Southern Zone Secondary Schools Finals at the HFC Stadium in Suva today.
Marist Hostel’s Head and U18 Scrumhalf Aisea Nawai and flyhalf Lui Mainavatuwai scored Marist points between them, the former, 10, and the latter contributed seven.
Marist began the scoring with a penalty kick by Nawai, making it 3-0. Then, Lui Mainavatuwai scored a try, successfully converted by Nawai, making the score 10-0 at halftime.
During the second half, Marist kept up their strong performance and didn’t allow Grammar to score. Nawai added another try for Marist, and Mainavatuwai added the extra points, bringing the final score 17-0.
The national quarterfinals will take place on August 12 at the HFC Bank Stadium. After that, the semifinals will be held a week later at the same place. The finals are scheduled for August 26.
