A 31-year-old man accused of fatally stabbing a woman in Raiwaqa is set to appear in court tomorrow.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has sanctioned a charge of murder against the man, following an investigation into the death of his partner earlier this week.
The accused remains in custody at the Raiwaqa Police Station and will face a special court sitting at the Suva Magistrates Court on Monday, 16 September 2024.
Authorities allege that the incident occurred after an argument broke out between the couple at their shared residence in Raiwaqa. According to police, the man allegedly stabbed the woman using a broken bottle before fleeing the scene.
Police were alerted to the crime by a couple living in the same house who discovered the victim and reported the incident.
Efforts to locate the suspect were initiated immediately, leading to his arrest. The case has been classified as murder.
