A 24-year-old man has been remanded in custody in Suva for allegedly impersonating a Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) officer.
Aman Abishek Nambiar faces charges of impersonation, obtaining financial advantage by deception, and breaching bail conditions. It is alleged that he posed as a FICAC officer between November 22 and December 1 this year, fraudulently obtaining $170 from a complainant.
The court heard Nambiar had breached bail conditions from a separate case by reoffending. He appeared before Magistrate Pulekeria Low, waived his right to legal counsel, and was remanded in custody for 14 days.
FICAC prosecutor Immanuel Turaga opposed bail, citing the breach of conditions. The case has been adjourned to December 18 for further disclosures and a formal bail application.
