MaiTV partners with TABS Investments for local music show, Mai VOQA

Fijian television station, MaiTV Fiji signed with local mahogany exporters TABS Investments in Suva today to launch a new local music show, Mai Voqa, which will air at 8 pm Wednesdays, beginning this week.

The music show will feature the legends of the Fijian music circle, the people who shaped and built the local music industry, in the likes of Seru Serevi, Saimoni Vuatalevu, Georgina Ledua, Laisa Vulakoro and others.

Regarding the show, producer and presenter Koli Vuacati who is also a household name in Fiji said: “It will not only feature some of the legends’ hit songs but provide an insight into their lives, their love for music, their beginnings and their contributions to the sector. In documenting their experiences, their voices as well as their talents, we will ensure that their ‘magic’ and contributions are not forgotten and remembered for time immemorial.

“Before embarking on this show, I had had a look at the local music shows and found that a lot of them featured songs entirely, but none delved into the background of the composers and musicians behind the songs,” Vuacati said.

“So, I thought, why not come up with a show that captures all that – a show that not only features the music, but also the musicians behind the music.”

Tabs Investments Marketing Manager Josua Toganivalu expressed the company’s gratitude for the partnership, which builds on their links with local musicians and the local music industry as well as their mahogany business dealings including with renowned US global guitar brand Taylor.

“On behalf of the team at Tabs Investments. We would like to thank the MaiTV team for the opportunity to come onboard to sponsor this local music show,” Toganivalu said.

“Tabs Investments has been in existence for 13 years and already has a close relationship with local musicians, working with Fiji Performing Rights Association (FPRA), sponsoring their awards. Because of the relationship with Taylor Guitars through our exports in Mahogany, it’s good to come on board. From what we have seen with the team working behind the scenes at MaiTV, some of the interviews being run, their productions, this show will take local music to new levels.”

The signing today was also Tabs Investments’ first venture into the local television scene.

The first season will run for 13 weeks, beginning this Wednesday 17 March 2021 at 8 pm on Mai TV and will show simultaneously on Mai TV’s Facebook page.
