Fiji Police said the main suspect in the murder of a 19-year-old man in Ra over the weekend allegedly assaulted the victim and then staged the scene of the crime to appear as a suicide.
The man in his 50s has since been charged and is expected to appear before a magistrates court in Rakiraki today.
The incident happened in Vatukacevaceva village over the weekend whereby the deceased was first reported missing on Sunday 14 August. His body was found a day later on Monday. The accused has been charged with one count of murder.
