Three Fiji-based exporters, including Pleass Global Limited, Frezco Beverages, and Zonah United, are in China for the sixth China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai.

Held annually, the CIIE offers them an opportunity to explore new business prospects and establish partnerships with Chinese customers.

Cate Pleass, Director of Pleass Global Limited, known for bottling VaiWai and AquaSafe Natural Artesian water, is set to showcase its premium products at the event, marking a significant step in expanding into the Chinese market.

“We are truly excited to introduce our world-class natural artesian water to the Chinese market. This opportunity holds great promise for us, and we look forward to forging new partnerships and making a significant impact at the expo,” Pleass said.

Frezco Beverages Fiji, another first-time participant, is eager to showcase its range of beverages and explore opportunities for expanding its presence in China, particularly with Aqua Pacific premium natural artesian water and Fijian Noni products.

Founder and CEO Altaaf Jamal said, “Participating in the China International Import Expo is a landmark moment for us. We are prepared to introduce our unique, high-quality beverages to the Chinese market and are confident that this event will open doors to exciting opportunities.”

Pleass Global Limited and Zonah United received funding to participate in CIIE 2023 as part of Investment Fiji’s partnership with UNESCAP on the Catalysing Women’s Economic Entrepreneurship project.

Investment Fiji’s CEO, Kamal Chetty, highlighted the significance of the event and Fiji’s enthusiasm for participating in this expo, underscoring the opportunity it offers to strengthen trade relations between Fiji and China.

“The CIIE is a premier global trade event and an international platform for mutually beneficial cooperation. Fiji is excited to be part of this prestigious event, which offers a unique opportunity to connect with businesses from all corners of the globe. We are confident that this will be a significant milestone in strengthening trade relations between Fiji and China,” Chetty said.

Minister for Trade, Co-operatives, and Small and Medium Enterprises Manoa Kamikamica, who is also in China, delivered a special address at the 6th Hongqiao International Economic Forum over the weekend. He also visited the Fiji booth at the CIIE.
