Lautoka Ends 21-Year FACT Drought with Thrilling Extra-Time Win

Lautoka ended their Digicel Fiji FACT title drought, picking up their first in 21 years following a 2-1 win over Rewa in extra time in a thrilling finale at the HFC Stadium in Suva today.

The Blues claimed an early advantage when Afraz Ali slotted in a corner kick from Aporisa Yada, finding the back of the net in the 8th minute.

However, the Delta Tigers responded via Josaia Sela, leveling the score. Sela was shown a yellow card after he removed his jersey whilst celebrating the goal.

Scores remained 1-all at the end of the first spell of extra time before Saula Waqa scored the crucial goal in the second half of the extra time to secure the win for Lautoka.

Lautoka secured their spot in the final by defeating Labasa 2-1, while Rewa advanced to the final after a hard-fought victory against Ba 3-2.

The champs pocketed $17,000 while Rewa settled for $5000.
