Labasa sites identified for decontamination

Several places in Labasa town were shut down on the weekend after the Ministry of Health identified them as high-risk areas of interest.

On Friday 5 cases were announced thus prompting health officials to move quickly to close to the sites identified as places that the latest victims had visited.

The places that were closed included the RB Patel Supermarket, Shop n Save supermarket, Goodman Fielder factory, Pinto Hardware yard, Ashok Transport Ltd and RC Manubhai outlet in Labasa.

They will remain closed until advised otherwise.

Over the weekend, police were out in numbers patrolling the streets checking that people were adhering to COVID-19 regulations.

There are currently five cases in the North, three of them are from the same household at Namara Tiri Settlement. Yesterday, household packs were distributed to residents. There are around 86 people in the lockdown area.
