Labasa family confirms being told to go into isolation, MOH yet to confirm

A family in Labasa has confirmed to Mai TV that they have been advised to self-isolate and wait for Ministry of Health staff for testing – as a member of their household had apparently come into contact with a “suspected case” in the North.

The Ministry of Health has stated that they have nothing to confirm yet and the suspected case could be negative.

According to a family member – they received a call from a MOH staff who advised that the phone number of their household member was identified through the Care Fiji app as a close contact of a “suspect.”

The family was advised to self-isolate at home and await the arrival of MOH staff for testing.

There have been several queries in the North about a suspected case – but no official confirmation has been made by the Ministry of Health. Permanent Secretary for Health Dr James Fong had previously said that they do not announce cases until they have acquired full details and confirmations.

People travel between Viti Levu and Vanua Levu had been banned except for ships and trucks carrying cargo – with strict restrictions and protocols put in place.
