Keep away from the old Rewa bridge: Fiji Roads Authority

The old Rewa Bridge in Nausori can collapse at any time, Fiji Roads Authority warns, urging the public to steer clear of the bridge and its immediate surroundings.

The warning comes after people were found consuming liquor at the bridge despite it being closed off since June 2017.

“This is not only against the law but is also unsafe,” FRA acting chief executive officer Kamal Prasad said.

He said the deterioration of the bridge has reached a stage that it may partially collapse without warning.

“We are working closely with the Fiji Police and the Nausori Town Council to monitor the non-compliance”.

Prasad also called on the public to contact the police if they find anyone loitering around the old bridge.
