Juveniles Among 23 Charged for Serious Offences in January: ODPP

Two boys, aged 15 and 17, were charged with one count of aggravated burglary and one count of theft, allegedly breaking into the home of a 60-year-old man and stole masi and mats.

They were amongst the 23 people charged with 33 counts of serious offences last month, as released by the Office of Public Prosecutions under the Serious Crimes (Non Sexual Offences).

“There were 23 people charged with a total of 33 counts of serious offences in January. The counts for serious crimes were attempted murder (1), robbery (1), aggravated robbery (4), burglary (2), aggravated burglary (8), theft (10), assault causing actual bodily harm (2), grievous harm (1), act with intent to cause grievous harm (1), and breach of suspended sentences (3).

“Of the 23 accused persons, three were juveniles and one was a police officer. There were 20 victims of 33 counts of serious offences.There was three incident where the accused and the victim were related to one another.”
