A 20-year-old who bashed his 13-year-old cousin on the head several times with an iron roti plate/tawa until he was unconscious has been sentenced to three years imprisonment.
The incident which happened on Rabi island late last year resulted in the victim sustaining deep wounds to his head and a depressed skull fracture that medics said were life-threatening and may take up to two years to heal.
Court documents showed that the accused, who was drunk at the time stated that he was provoked, having “lost his temper when the victim teased him by calling him a dog.”
He will not be eligible for parole until he has served two years behind bars.
