For Merewairita Neivosa and Salanieta Buli not only was joining the Rooster Chicken Drua a dream come true, it is also a testament that good things come to those who work hard and stick to their goals.
Neivosa scored two tries on her debut for the side last weekend against the Queensland Reds and says it was a game she will never forget so easily.
“I was happy with my game, there were some areas that I can still improve on but for that game against the Reds, I felt I had done okay for my first day,” Neivosa said. “Since joining the Fijian Drua I have learnt so much about working as a team, living with discipline and the importance of listening to instructions
For 21-year-old Buli who hails from Navosa, sticking to the game plan and working together was something that she took away from the game.
“In this team we have had to bond quickly, so when we play now we know that we have each other’s back. On the field I can only give my best knowing that my team mates are going to cover me and be there for me.”
The duo say that even though they came away with a win last weekend, facing the Waratahs will be no easy feat.
“Last week was a good result, we take what we can learn from it but now we are concentrating on Waratahs who we know will want to beat us on our home ground,” Neivosa said.
The ladies take on their Waratahs counterpart at 3.35pm after the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua vs Waratahs game which begins at 1.05pm.
