The Chairman of the Great Council of Chiefs Ratu Viliame Seruvakula today apologised to the media for the miscommunication regarding the coverage of the opening of the 2-day GCC meeting in Suva.
At a press conference this afternoon at the GCC complex in Suva, Ratu Viliame issued the apology to the media in person.
“I apologise for that blunder and miscommunication with the media, regarding the opening of the GCC meeting today.”
A Government media note alerting journalists to the attendance of the Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka to the opening of the GCC meeting was issued last night. However the invite was rescinded this morning by staff of the iTaukei Affairs Ministry, who stated there would be a ‘media blackout’ until a press conference tomorrow.
After blowback from the media the GCC advised they would hold a press conference today to respond to any questions and clarifications.
