Former Fiji 7s and Fiji Warriors captain gets Fijian Drua captaincy nod

Fijian Drua number four signing and experienced No.8 Nemani Nagusa has been named captain of the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua ahead of the 2022 Super Rugby Pacific competition.

This was confirmed by Fijian Drua head coach Mick Byrne.

The former Fiji 7s and Fijian Warriors captain who boasts 18 caps for Fiji said he is grateful for the opportunity and thanked the coaching staff for entrusting him with the responsibility which he admits will not be easy given that this will be the Fijian Drua’s first Super Rugby outing.

Nagusa made his debut for the Flying Fijians in 2012 against Georgia. He has top level professional experience with the Newcastle Falcons in the English Premiership, and Pro D2 experience in France. He is no stranger to the captain’s role, having led the Fijian 7s team to multiple victories, as well as the Fiji Warriors in the Pacific Rugby Championship.

Nagusa was captain of the Fijian 7s side in 2013 which won the Hong Kong 7s title and also captain of the Fijian Warriors side which won the Pacific Rugby Championship.

The Fijian Drua will play their first game against the Waratahs on February 18 at CommBank Stadium in Australia.
