FMF Foods Limited and the Land Transport Authority (LTA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to advance Fiji’s transition to electric mobility.
Under the partnership, selected LTA officers will undergo specialised Electric Vehicle (EV) training in China, aimed at strengthening technical knowledge, regulatory oversight, and practical skills in EV operations, inspection, and maintenance.
FMF Group CEO Sanjay Punja said the initiative underscores the company’s commitment to national development, innovation, and sustainability beyond its core food manufacturing operations.
LTA Chief Executive Officer Irimaia Rokosawa highlighted the program’s benefits, including the opportunity to build national expertise in EV standards, compliance, and emerging vehicle technologies, preparing Fiji for the anticipated growth of electric vehicles.
“This collaboration will enable knowledge sharing, strengthen technical confidence among officers, and ensure Fiji keeps pace with global advancements in transport technology,” he said.
